Trauma Informed Bodywork

Trauma-Informed Bodywork is a body based modality focused on healing through the power of touch and trauma-informed coping and processing skills. This work provides a space for clients to connect safely with their bodies and the massage therapist in a non-traditional environment. The goal of trauma-informed bodywork is to create comfort and build rapport with the massage therapist in order to provide space for nervous system regulation. Our licensed massage therapist and licensed professional counselor, Rachel Tweed provides trauma-informed bodywork services at our Healing House office in Dallas.

Important notes: Bodywork is a separate service from talk therapy. Rachel is not trained in prenatal massage.

Services include:

Intake

A 50 minute session complete with assessments, history taking, and treatment planning. This session does not include table work.

First session (Resourcing Session)

Clothed table work session focused on grounding and resourcing skills using breathing, bilateral stimulation, and gentle body awareness. After the session, clients receive an email including a library of resources.

Ongoing sessions

Brief check in to begin followed by table work focused on establishing safety in the body. Clients disrobe to their comfort level. Client and massage therapist continue to build rapport and create a therapeutic relationship, including developing communication dynamics.

Rachel collaborates with her clients to create a treatment plan based on individualized needs to encourage safety and feelings of empowerment in the massage space. It is recommended that a client completes at least four bodywork sessions and receives talk therapy in addition to massage services.
